🌎 Did you know that Cellular networks cover just 15% of the planet's surface? The remaining 433.5 million km2 are affected by gaps in network coverage. Satellite technology is on the verge of bridging those gaps. Until today, the coverage gap has been limiting the potential of certain IoT applications. High costs and a lack of interoperability between devices and networks have prevented the mainstream adoption of satellite communications. 🛰️ The latest advancements in satellite technology are about to change that: terrestrial networks, such as 5G, can now be connected to satellite-based, non-terrestrial networks. As long as the satellite networks support this, seamless global coverage for all devices becomes possible with just one SIM. Non-terrestrial networks are already integrated into platforms such as G+D's IoT Suite, which means that devices can use both types of connectivity. A life with G+D, a legacy that lasts: Verena von Mitschke-Collande hands over to Marian von Mitschke-Collande. Already last year, we announced that G+D is going to carry out a generational transition. This is now beginning to take effect with Verena von Mitschke-Collande handing over her roles in the supervisory bodies of the company to the sixth generation of the family. Her son Marian von Mitschke-Collande will take over her seat in the Supervisory Board and as Deputy Chairman of the Advisory Board. The planned retirement of Verena von Mitschke-Collande marks the end of a magnificent career as an entrepreneur. Over the past decades, she enabled the development of the company, ultimately laying the groundwork that makes G+D the successful security technology group it is today. The employees of G+D and our global locations were always close to her heart. For her strong social commitment she has been honoured several times. "After many eventful and successful years, the right time has now come to place responsibility in the hands of the next generation. I am very happy that we as a family, together with the management, can make a good transition. G+D can thus look to the future with great confidence," says Verena von Mitschke-Collande. We took the time to reflect on our transformation progress over the past year and look ahead to the next steps on our annual Leadership Summit this week. Looking back on a successful year at G+D, our Group CEO, Ralf Wintergerst, expressed gratitude and highlighted the tremendous efforts of the team. At the same time, he emphasized the importance of staying focused and maintaining the momentum. Remember our little sound quiz a few days ago? 🔊 You may have guessed it right – it’s all about our single note inspection system BPS X9. The sound of our BPS X9 might remind you of traveling in an airplane. However, it is actually a powerhouse designed to process freshly printed banknotes, armed with the latest technology to ensure maximum security. 💶 🦾 How? The system continuously monitors and tracks each banknote and its serial number. 🏆And guess what: With a processing speed of 44 banknotes per second, leading to over 150,000 banknotes per hour, it’s the fastest banknote processing system in the world. But the BPS X9 is not just about speed, it is also designed for seamless integration with other automation systems, such as cutting and packaging solutions. This makes it a pivotal component in fully automated end-to-end banknote processing.
